The Neuroscience of Adverse Childhood Experiences
Tuesday 4 November 2025 7-9:30pm
Why do early life experiences, especially those that are difficult, shape who we become as adults? Adverse Childhood Experiences like neglect, abuse and/or chronic stress can alter the developing brains of children and adolescents. In turn, this cumulative stress could play a role in shaping our emotions, learning, memory, and decision-making.
In this talk, Dr Jeffrey DeMarco will draw on neuroscience to explore the influences of early environment on children’s long-term well-being, and how this impacts us into adulthood. He will also explore the role of support and resilience in helping the brain heal and grow after trauma. This session is perfect for any adult eager to explore and understand childhood experiences and how they can have a lasting impact on our lives.

A Psychotherapist’s Guide to Expressing Female Rage
Tuesday 18 November 2025 7-9:30pm
What if you’re not depressed? What if you don’t have chronic fatigue? What if you’re just… angry? Jennifer Cox has started the conversation we never thought would happen. Her book, Women Are Angry (The Times and Sunday Times Best Self-Help Book of the Year) has gone global. And now is your chance to get involved.
This talk is an engaging and vital introduction to women’s rage. Historically, we’ve been told we need to be polite, kind and gentle. We’re good girls, thoughtful daughters and caring partners. Despite what we might be going through, or what we might have wanted for ourselves. We certainly haven’t been taught a vocabulary for expressing our rage about what this pressure places on us. And not talking has made us sick, both mentally and physically. Join Jennifer to find out why your rage has been hiding… and how to let it out.

Manage your Emotions, Manage your Life
Wednesday 26 November 2025 6-8pm
Many of us believe we are at the mercy of our emotions, that they are automatic and that we have no control over them. This has scientifically been proven not to be true.
We might often feel angry, anxious, depressed, or feel we have no confidence and are therefore powerless to change. Again, this is not true. We ALWAYS have more control over our emotions than we might think.
In this session we will explore:
– What an emotion is – and what it isn’t,
– Why being in control of our emotions is important for good health and every aspect of our lives,
– The four elements that make up an emotional state,
– A quick and effective way to change your emotional state whenever you want, and
– An opportunity to ask questions about how to apply this knowledge in your own life.
This is a fun, interactive session held in a safe, confidential space. It will offer you a different perspective on how you react to the world and the people around you. It will also offer some practical information and tools with which to manage your emotions.

The Somatic Trauma Workshop
Sunday 1 December 2025 6:30 – 8:30pm
Trauma lives not only in our memories, but also in our muscles, breath, and heartbeat. It speaks through the body, shaping how we carry stress and how we respond to overwhelming experiences. Through the framework of Somatic Experiencing (SE), this therapeutic approach views trauma as a disruption in the nervous system’s natural rhythm.
Join Dr Dilara Özel in exploring how our protective responses, fight, flight, and freeze, (re)shape the way we react to stress. We will dive into the basics of SE, including grounding techniques, tracking sensations, and resources that support resilience. Designed to be both practical and experiential, this workshop offers accessible tools to deepen awareness of your body’s wisdom and to explore your nervous system from a new perspective in daily life.
Workshop highlights:
- Learn the principles of Somatic Experiencing and how it helps us better understand ourselves
- Discover powerful practices, from noticing body sensations to recalling personal resources, that you could use at anytime
- Develop tools to build resilience and reconnect with your body’s natural rhythm.
