A message from Kate our volunteer facilitator of the group.
thrivin together have recognised that there a number of women discussing their experiences with neurodiversity – diagnosed and undiagnosed, in the main Whatsapp group. So they have decided to create a neurodiversity Whatsapp group and I am the volunteer who facilitates this.
After being diagnosed with ADHD & Autism in 2022, I asked my GP for help with coping thinking they’d there would be some sort of service available to help me manage my symptoms only to be told that there isn’t any help in my area!
I started to deep dive into understanding more about ADHD, Autism and other linked conditions to better understand myself and others. In the last 3 years I have watched hundreds of You Tube videos, been to Seed talks and done online workshops on ADHD & Autism to gain as much knowledge as possible. I talk to everyone I can about ADHD & Autism hoping to spread awareness and to show that neurodiversity can present itself in so many ways.
I also recognised very early on that there was a strong link between addiction and neurodiversity.
Helping others has always been something I’ve been passionate about, and I feel that talking and sharing experiences can be so beneficial as part of managing living with neurodiverse conditions. I have always been very chatty so it is quite natural for me to be open and talk about my experiences and I hope that it helps others to feel confident in doing the same.
If you are someone who has or had a gambling addiction, or are an affected other and also experience neurodiversity, you are very welcome to join the Whatsapp group just email us
