I am an affected other
You don’t have to carry this on your own
If someone else’s gambling is affecting your life, it can feel exhausting, confusing and isolating.
You might be:
- Constantly worried about money
- Covering up or trying to manage someone else’s behaviour
- Feeling anxious, angry, or overwhelmed
- Losing sleep or struggling to cope day to day
- Unsure where to turn, or whether this “counts” as something you can get help for
Whether it’s a partner, ex-partner, parent, child, or someone close to you, their gambling can have a real impact on you.
You deserve support too.
This space is for you
At thrivin’ together, we support women who are affected by someone else’s gambling.
That includes:
- Partners and ex-partners
- Mothers, daughters and sisters
- Friends and carers
- Women supporting someone in recovery
- Women still living with active gambling harm in their lives
You don’t need a label or a diagnosis.
If this is affecting you, you are welcome here.
How it can feel
Women we support often describe:
- Feeling responsible for fixing things
- Hiding what’s happening from others
- Financial stress or loss of control
- Being emotionally drained or “on edge”
- Not recognising themselves anymore
Some women also experience:
- Control or coercion linked to money
- Relationship breakdown
- Loneliness and stigma
These experiences are more common than you might think but they’re rarely talked about.
How we can support you
We offer a safe, women-only space where you can talk openly, without judgement.
Peer support groups
Connect with other women who understand what you’re going through.
No pressure, no expectation — just space to be heard.
One-to-one support
If you’d prefer to talk privately, we offer 1:1 support at your pace.
A space that understands
Our team and community have lived experience. We won’t ask you to explain everything – we get it.
You don’t have to wait for things to get worse
pYou might be wondering:
- “Is it bad enough?”
- “Should I be coping better?”
- “What if nothing changes?”
You don’t need to have all the answers.
You don’t need to be in crisis.
If it’s affecting you, that’s enough.
A space where you can be yourself
We are committed to creating a space where all women feel safe and included.
We welcome:
- LGBTQ+ women, including lesbian and bisexual women
- Women later in life who may feel overlooked
- Women from all backgrounds and communities who may not feel represented
You will be met with respect, understanding and care.
Take the first step
We know reaching out can feel difficult – especially when you’ve been carrying things alone.
We’ll meet you where you are.
We won’t tell you what to do. We’re here to listen, support, and walk alongside you.
